You Don’t Sound Black is a reflection of how the experience and performance of a black identity is so often critiqued and - in doing so - reduced to a stereotype. Both this statement, as well as the label of “Oreo” are racist microaggressions. The large scale of the cookie represents the large impact that microaggressions can have on their recipients.
